No reason for some of the races you couldn’t mix an unleashed career and a ikrpg career. Man at arms chieftain. Or is there something?. I tend to go with the IKRPG one as it lines up better with stuff like Greataxes from Unleashed. But then, I did my own redo of Nyss to not require. With all the cool new races/careers in Unleashed we were considering and themes of the Iron Kingdoms, and this issue bears directly on that.

Winter Guard and Trenchers should have very little mechanical difference in their careers.

Ambush and Backstab are both nice abilities, Ambush in particular for a high Initiative race combined with a career that has multiple abilities for extra attacks. There is a difference between what I was arguing and your argument of a generic warlock, whether you understand that or not.

Do we know a solid list of careers for unleashed yet? To me it makes sense that a gator fights differently than a Nyss. Of course we can come up with ways to give them common cause, but we must also acknowledge that it is an extremely unlikely pairing. Especially when your wargame itself is filled with a wide variety of snowflakes and “unique” exceptions. And while I can see the argument about Bloodweaver – why can’t somebody else learn blood magic – in this setting only female Tharn are Bloodweavers.

We’ve been shown a dwarf and an Iosan who learned or were born with that talent and are not represented in any fashion. Circle Warlock with a Troll Impaler?

Someone already made the comment about Gatormen not unleashef a trollkin or ogrun. Additionally, I can see why the game design choices were made like this, even if I think it could have achieved a similar effect with a more inclusive and less arbitrary rule set. I’ve been grinding down the number of careers and absorbing the specific ones into general ones since I started GMing, it allows for much more interesting character builds and a lot less hand holding by the game, just with examples set up for players who want to build those specific set ups, with the space even early to develop their own flare for it.

Characters in Unleashed will in general be more powerful than characters in Full Metal Fantasy. It boils down to unlesshed My point is that, despite necromancy being available in many forms across the iron kingdoms, PP chose to only give us a single specific angle on that necromancy, and if we want to play any other kind of necromancer we have to either homebrew the career, or wait until they get around to adding each and every specific necromancer career one at a time.

In cases of Trollkin or Nyss, the PC would ahve the option to pick either parent book but must stick with that choice once made. Those ujleashed mostly the gifted types, which are really strong. Several of the racially-restricted careers like Slaughterhouser and Champion have little to do with their race aside from their appearance in the wargame.

Houseruling is work for the GM. I also find the unleashed version better as if your not a Nyss it is going to make you pay a small price for running around with exotic weapons from another culture.

But apparently PP has doubled down on that sentiment. Unleashed has a lot of gaps in its career choices because so much of it is racially-restricted.

Plus I think there could easily be groups who want to be a themed group sometimes. Some of the things, like Nyss and their weapons, are different unleasned the two game are different games.

A thamarite, a bokor and a cryxian whatever are no less different than a fighter, a paladin and a ranger.

These creatures come from vastly different cultures compared to the rail connected civilized world. What about being a slaughterhouser makes it something only farrow can do? Besides, how hard is it for a GM ikrpgg use Arcanist to represent a generic Necromancer?

First rule of RPGs as a GM as far as I’m concerned is “Change whatever you want unleasned run the game you want” the second is “Cheat if it makes a better story”. Though she did have formal training from the Thamaraites later.

Iron Head could hold the traits related to steam armor, and a touch of combat and repair enough to get them started, not enough to provide mastery. Oddly enough, I’d probably allow Satysis unldashed to the Bloodweaver. It’s really very simple though. Why wolf riders and not beast riders?

While I completely understand why many players are unhappy with these restrictions, they were not “arbitrary”. The only thing making them not generic is the unique mount. Otherwise all is unleadhed game. Personally I dont see an issue mix and matching as long as you set some ground rules. Or maybe the opposite!
